New Resin-free Handball
“d60 PRO”

Molten introduce the IHF-approved handball
“d60 PRO”,
which meets the IHF’s (International Handball Federation) technical requirements for
“Handballs played without resin”.

Resin is used in handball to minimize the ball slipperiness caused by sweat, resulting in
better grip and ball control. However, in sports venues where the use of resin is prohibited,
players practice and play matches without using resin. In July 2019, IHF announced
regulations for “Handballs played without resin” for handballs used in such conditions.

PRODUCT FEATURE

Water Absorbent Cover,
Sweat Resistance

By using a highly absorbent surface material which retains moisture, the ball is less
slippery when being used with sweaty hands.
d60 PRO has higher water absorbent and so less slippery than d60

PRODUCT FEATURE

Softer Cover,
Stronger Grip

Thick soft layers achieve a spongy cover, enabling the fingertips to sink in deeper and creating more contact area between the finger and the surface of the ball. These features help players to get an exceptional grip.

PRODUCT FEATURE

Original Channeled
Design, More Control

Evenly placing 60 triangle-shaped panels enables players to catch and hold the ball with more ease than a traditional ball. The dimple at the center of the panels and deep channels between the panels contribute to a better grip and more control.

DESIGN

d60 Series are designed by “nendo”, a design company led by Oki Sato, an
up-and-coming designer who is active in a wide range of works,
including architecture, interior design and graphics.

nendo's comment
A handball constructed with a “triangle” design
To achieve a “less slippery” and “easier to grip” handball, a panel structure is created by combining diamond shapes based on the concept of “knurling”.
Furthermore, as a result of adding mock seams between triangles , a handball composed of 60 triangles was developed.
This creates enhanced fingerholds wherever the ball is gripped.
The sharp edges on all three sides of the triangles resembles sparkling fire to express the dynamism of the handball.
